As the weather in London approached roasting temperatures, action on the track was also hotting up as Pole enjoyed a busy month of action.
The month started strong, as three series took to the circuit on the first weekend of May. In Formula E, Oliver Rowland enjoyed a superb Berlin E-Prix, taking two podium finishes to pull himself back into title contention for Nissan Formula E Team. There were also encouraging signs on the other side of the garage, as teammate Norman Nato took a season-high fifth place to secure 10 well-deserved points for both him and the team.
At the same time, Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific was in action in both GT World Challenge Asia and Super GT. In the former, Anthony Liu and Loek Hartog earned a terrific and dominant race win in Round 4, although it was 2025 Porsche Junior Alessandro Ghiretti and Huang Ruohan who were the stars of the weekend. Fourth in Round 3, but taking the points for third thanks to a guest driver standing on the podium, and second the next day was enough for the Absolute Racing duo to extend their lead at the top of the standings to 20 points.
Over in Japan, seven x seven Racing showed more of the potential we saw from them at the end of last year, running for most of the race in second, although a 10-second time penalty dropped Kiyoto Fujinami and Sven Muller to fourth at the chequered flag.
The action continued the following week, with Porsche Carrera Cup Asia tackling the incredible Fuji Speedway as the series hit the halfway mark. The impressive Marcus Amand re-stated his title claim, winning both races with two very strong drives. There were also podium finishes for Marvin Klein, Marco Giltrap and Naquib Azlan.
Then it was almost time for the big one, with the much-anticipated Nürburgring 24 Hours on the horizon. With the world’s eyes on Max Verstappen, Pole was supporting one of the Dutchman’s competitors in the SP9-Pro class, KCMG. The squad lined up 10th following qualifying, and made a strong start to the race with David Pittard on board. However, an incident out of their control just a few hours in would see the Hong Kong-based team forced to retire from the race.
On the same weekend, Nissan Formula E Team recovered from the difficult Saturday in Monaco to claim victory on the streets of the Principality in Round 10 of the Formula E season. Reigning champion Rowland would deliver an incredible performance, making use of a perfect strategy to complete some brave late overtaking moves to secure a Monaco win for the second season in a row.
Completing the busy weekend was SRO Japan Cup, which took to Sportsland SUGO to open its 2026 campaign. Shinji Takei and Ukyo Sasahara made a strong start to the year for Bingo Racing, securing victory in Race 2, while Yoshitomo Makino and Takeshi Suehiro lead the GT4 category after a positive performance.
The busy month ended with one final weekend of track activity as China GT visited Ningbo International Circuit. Yuan Bo and Leo Ye claimed GT3 double victory for Winhere Origine Motorsport, while 610 Racing dominated the GTC/GTS class, locking out the podium on both days.
Thailand Super Series was also in action, with Ghiretti back in Asia, this time alongside Henk Kiks for B-Quik Absolute Racing. The duo put in an impressive performance in the GT3 category, securing second in both events. There were also Porsche podiums in the GTM and GT4 categories, with the series next heading to the incredible Bangsaen Street Circuit in July.
Finally, KCMG’s Super Formula team hit the track at Suzuka, although it would be a tough weekend for the squad, as both Kenta Yamashita and Seita Nonaka struggled for pace and were unable to break into the points-paying positions. Overall it was a busy month for the Pole team, but as the recent heatwave fades, so does the weekend action, with a few well-deserved quiet weekends upcoming in June.
