August, a time for having a break, going away, enjoying the sun, right? However, at Pole, the race weekends kept coming as global motorsport proved it really is fully year-round now.
The month kicked off with Super GT’s trip to Fuji Speedway, as Kiyoto Fujinami and Sven Müller secured a strong top-six finish for seven x seven Racing. The solid performance ensured that the team claimed a ninth points score in a row in the championship, re-confirming their competitiveness in the GT300 category.
Two weeks later, Formula E was building up to its season finale, with Nissan Formula E Team driver Oliver Rowland still in the fight to secure back-to-back Drivers’ Championship titles. It wasn’t to be for the British driver, but he was able to secure points finishes in both races to end Season 12 on a positive note.
Days later, Pole helped Nissan Formula E Team announce their driver line-up for the 2026/27 season, with youngster Zane Maloney joining Rowland at the team. Maloney arrives with a strong junior CV behind him, and already has two years of experience in the all-electric championship.
Porsche ARbox Carrera Cup Asia took on a vitally important event at Sepang the following week. With runaway championship leader Marcus Amand absent due to his Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup commitments, Team Porsche New Zealand’s Marco Giltrap took advantage, winning two out of the three races to take a narrow championship lead heading into the final race weekend of the season in Singapore.
Bao Jinlong returned to form in the Am class with a triple win, while Cao Qikuan clinched two Am victories, closing the gap in the standings to leader Roy Tang, who prevailed in Race 1. An exciting Masters battle is developing, as two victories for Adrian D’Silva saw him close the gap at the top to John Shen.
Also at Sepang, Thailand Super Series held Round 3 of their 2026 campaign. It was a tough weekend for Henk Kiks and Alessandro Ghiretti in the GT3 class, with the B-Quik Absolute Racing duo unable to secure a podium finish. In the GT4 category, Dechathorn Phuakkarawut and Kantadhee Kusiri extended their championship lead with a double podium, while Thanapattra Sutthisawang and Kmik Karnasuta scored points in both races.
Rounding off a busy weekend, Super GT was again in action, this time at Suzuka. Taichi Watarai joined Müller for this event, but a difficult event saw the team claim just two points, crossing the line 14th.
The month came to an end with the return of GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS, which began the second half of its season at Okayama International Circuit. Porsche has enjoyed a strong year in the series, but found it more difficult at the twisty and narrow Japanese circuit.
Lu Wei and Laurin Heinrich went against the trend, continuing their strong form together. The duo picked up fourth in Race 1 before an excellent second-place finish in Race 2, launching Wei to the top of the championship standings.
Huang Ruohan and Alessandro Ghiretti led coming into the weekend, but a solitary eight-place finish, before retiring after a first lap incident on Sunday, cost them a great opportunity to maintain their championship lead. Meanwhile, in the Am category, Liu Hangcheng and Wang Zhongwei clinched victory in Race 2, as they take a 10-point lead into the next round in Beijing. It looks like the action will be continuing for Pole as we head into September, with the most eye-catching event being the Suzuka 1000km, set for 11-13 September.
